David Lowe is a founding Partner at Insignia. He brings over 29 years of investment, strategic and operational experience across the business services, consumer and healthcare sectors to Insignia’s leadership team.

David serves as Chairman of the Boards of Tillamook Country Smoker and Century Snacks and serves on the Board of Market Performance Group and MediaAlpha (NYSE: MAX). Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Truco Enterprises and on the Board of MNG Direct. Prior to Insignia, he was a co-founder and Vice Chairman of Friedman Fleischer & Lowe, a San Francisco-based private equity firm with over $2.5 billion under management. During his 13 years at FFL, David was on the Investment Committee of FFL and served as Chairman of the Board of Guardian Home Care Holdings, Discovery Foods, Church’s Chicken, Benevis, GeoVera Insurance Group Holdings, and Advanced Career Technologies, as well as a Director at DPMS, SteelPoint Technologies, and Korn/Ferry International (NYSE: KFY). Prior to co-founding FFL, David spent ten years at ADAC Laboratories, a world leader in nuclear medicine instrumentation. At ADAC, he served as CEO and Chairman of the Board. Under his leadership, ADAC grew market share from 12% to 53%, achieved the highest revenue per employee in its industry, and cut its product development cycle to half the time to market of its competitors. In 1996, ADAC was honored by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the President as the recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for overall business excellence – David was the youngest CEO of any company to win this award. Previously, he was a consultant at Bain and Company. David received a B.A., with Honors, from the University of California at Davis, and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Tony Broglio is the President and a founding Partner of Insignia Capital. He brings over 25 years of investment, strategic and operational expertise across the business services and consumer sectors to Insignia’s leadership team.

Tony serves on the Boards of Fueled, Market Performance Group, MediaAlpha (NYSE:MAX), Netrush, and New Engen and previously served on the Boards of WillowTree, Truco Enterprises and MNG Direct. Prior to co-founding Insignia in 2012, Tony was a Principal and member of the Executive Committee of Lake Capital, a Chicago-based private equity fund with over $1.3 billion under management. At Lake, Tony was responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, structuring and negotiating transactions and partnering with management teams to execute organic and acquisition-based growth strategies. During his more than nine years with Lake, Tony played a leading role and served on the Boards of a large number of the firm’s successful investments. Prior to Lake, he spent five years in merchant and investment banking with two boutique firms executing mergers and acquisitions and private and public equity offerings across a number of industries. Tony received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado and an M.B.A. with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Mel Deane is a founding Partner at Insignia. He brings over 32 years of investment, strategic and operational experience across the business services, consumer and healthcare sectors to Insignia’s leadership team.

Mel serves on the Boards of Century Snacks and Tillamook Country Smoker and previously served on the Board of Truco Enterprises and MNG Direct. Prior to Insignia, he was an Operating Partner at FFL from 2008 to 2011 and Operating Vice President from 2000 to 2008. At FFL, he concentrated his efforts on assisting multiple portfolio companies with operational and technical initiatives and by taking on interim management roles. Mel’s interim management roles at FFL included CEO of Church’s Chicken, CEO of Discovery Foods, COO of Benevis, EVP & GM Hospice at Guardian Home Care Holdings, EVP & GM Introspect at Steelpoint Technologies and EVP Curriculum Development at Advanced Career Technologies. He served as a Director at Church’s Chicken, Discovery Foods and Steelpoint Technologies. Prior to joining FFL, Mel held various senior executive positions at ADAC Laboratories from 1993 to 2000. His most recent role at ADAC was the Senior Vice President of Operations & CIO. Before joining ADAC, Mel held various engineering management positions at General Electric. Mel graduated with high distinction from Southall Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Nick DeTrempe joined Insignia in 2014 and has 9 years of private equity and investment banking experience.

Nick serves on the Boards of Netrush, New Engen and Tillamook Country Smoker and previously served on the Board of MediaAlpha (NYSE: MAX). Prior to Insignia, Nick was an Associate at Baird Capital, a successful Chicago-based private equity firm. At Baird, Nick helped evaluate and execute investments in the business services and healthcare services sectors. Prior to Baird, he spent two years at Credit Suisse as an Analyst in their investment banking group. In 2010 Nick interned at Lake Capital where he worked with Tony Broglio. Nick received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Sean Kelly joined Insignia in 2018 and has 9 years of private equity and business development experience.

Prior to joining Insignia, Sean was a Director of Business Development at Serent Capital, a San Francisco-based private equity firm with over $1.1 billion in capital under management. At Serent, Sean was responsible for deal origination and qualification, as well as the development of investment themes and intermediary relationships. Prior to Serent, Sean worked at Bainbridge Capital, a capital advisory firm in San Diego, where he originated and evaluated acquisition opportunities for middle-market private equity firms.

Sean graduated from the University of San Diego with a B.A. in Business Administration and a minor in Finance.

Thabo Mavundla joined Insignia in July 2021 and has 6 years of private equity and investment banking experience.

Prior to joining Insignia, Thabo worked as an Associate at Carlyle Group based out of Johannesburg, South Africa. At Carlyle, Thabo helped evaluate and execute investments in the consumer, businesses services, technology, and TMT verticals. Before joining Carlyle, Thabo spent two years at Rand Merchant Bank as an Analyst in their investment banking group.

Thabo received an MBA with Honors from Harvard Business School, and received a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Financing and Accounting from the University of Cape Town, where he graduated with honors.

Prior to joining Insignia, Neha was on the New Ventures team at ODDITY, a beauty and wellness brand incubator that leverages its proprietary data and technology platform to develop new brands. Prior to ODDITY, she was an Investment Banking Analyst at Rothschild & Co.

Neha graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. in Finance, Business Honors Program, and a B.A. in Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program.

Prior to joining Insignia, Jeremy Thatcher was a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at Calera Capital (fka Fremont Partners), a successful San Francisco-based private equity firm with over $2.8 billion under management.

At Calera, in addition to overseeing the firm’s finance, operations and compliance functions, Jeremy assisted the firm’s Managing Partners with the transition from an affiliate of a larger parent organization to a standalone entity. Prior to joining Calera in 2007, Jeremy was the Chief Financial Officer at FFL. He joined FFL in 2001 and, as FFL’s first financial officer, was instrumental in the development of many of the firm’s processes and build-out of the firm’s back office operations. From 1999 to 2001, Jeremy was employed at Meritus Research, Inc., a San Francisco-based start-up focused on hedge fund research and consulting. Jeremy began his career in San Francisco working for Deloitte & Touche LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in their audit and advisory services groups. He received a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Carl Skjorshammer joined Insignia in 2017.

Prior to joining Insignia, Carl worked in the Asset Management Tax Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PwC).  At PwC, Carl provided tax compliance and consulting services to partnerships, mutual funds and business development companies.

Prior to PwC, Carl worked in account management at BlackRock, Inc.

Carl earned a Master of Professional Accountancy degree from the University of California at Davis and a B.A. from Temple University.

Luis joined Insignia’s portfolio company Century Snacks in 2012 and subsequently became an operating partner of Insignia Capital in 2021.

Luis has held multiple executive roles at Century Snacks, where he started as HR Manager before transitioning into an operations role in 2015. As General Plant Manager, Luis oversaw manufacturing operations, inventory management, and production scheduling. In 2018 he assumed the role of VP of Materials Management and absorbed full oversight of the warehousing, distribution, order fulfillment, and customer service departments. Luis has demonstrated a unique ability to implement operational best practices, improve efficiency and enhance coordination across departments at Century Snacks.

Prior to joining Century Snacks, Luis was a manager at Great Dane Management where he was responsible for servicing customer sites across California.

Luis received a B.S. in Management from Long Beach State University and an M.B.A. in Supply Chain Management from Los Angeles State University.
