David Lowe

David L. Lowe, Chairman & CEO

David Lowe is a founding Partner at Insignia. He brings over 28 years of investment, strategic and operational experience across the business services, consumer and healthcare sectors to Insignia’s leadership team. David serves as Chairman of the Board of Truco Enterprises. Prior to Insignia, he was a co-founder and Vice Chairman of Friedman Fleischer & Lowe, a successful San Francisco-based private equity firm with over $2.5 billion under management. During his 13 years at FFL, David was on the Investment Committee of FFL and served as Chairman of the Board of Guardian Home Care Holdings, Discovery Foods, Church’s Chicken, Benevis, GeoVera Insurance Group Holdings, and Advanced Career Technologies, as well as a Director at DPMS, SteelPoint Technologies, and Korn/Ferry International (NYSE: KFY). Prior to co-founding FFL, David spent ten years at ADAC Laboratories, a world leader in nuclear medicine instrumentation. At ADAC, he served as CEO and Chairman of the Board. Under his leadership, ADAC grew market share from 12% to 53%, achieved the highest revenue per employee in its industry, and cut its product development cycle to half the time to market of its competitors. In 1996, ADAC was honored by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the President as the recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for overall business excellence – at age 36, David was the youngest CEO of any company to win this award. Previously, he was a consultant at Bain and Company. David received a B.A., with Honors, from the University of California at Davis, and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Tony Broglio

Tony Broglio, Managing Director

Tony Broglio is a founding Partner at Insignia. He brings over 17 years of investment, strategic and operational experience across the business services, consumer and healthcare sectors to Insignia’s leadership team. Tony serves as a Director on the Board of Truco Enterprises. Prior to Insignia, he was a Principal and member of the Executive Committee of Lake Capital, a successful Chicago-based private equity fund with over $1.3 billion under management. At Lake, he was responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, structuring transactions, managing due diligence, negotiating transactions and financing agreements, and working with portfolio company management teams to execute organic growth strategies, add-on acquisitions and leadership team development initiatives. During his more than nine years with Lake, Tony played a leading role in a number of the firm’s investments, including Empower Software Solutions, Hudson Energy Services, Hyper Marketing (fka SolutionSet), intraFUSION, ORC International, Respond2 Communications, Soil Safe, Vestcom, VFM Leonardo and Viamedia. He served as a Director at twelve of Lake’s portfolio companies during his tenure with the firm. Prior to Lake, he spent five years in merchant and investment banking with FMI Capital and Hanifen, Imhoff executing private and public equity and debt offerings and merger and acquisition transactions across a number of industries. Tony received a B.S. in Finance with a minor in Economics from the University of Colorado and an M.B.A. with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Mel Deane

Mel Deane, Managing Director

Mel Deane is a founding Partner at Insignia. He brings over 31 years of investment, strategic and operational experience across the business services, consumer and healthcare sectors to Insignia’s leadership team. Mel serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Truco Enterprises. Prior to Insignia, he was an Operating Partner at FFL from 2008 to 2011 and Operating Vice President from 2000 to 2008. At FFL, he concentrated his efforts on assisting multiple portfolio companies with operational and technical initiatives and by taking on interim management roles. Mel’s interim management roles included CEO of Church’s Chicken, CEO of Discovery Foods, COO of Benevis, EVP & GM Hospice at Guardian Home Care Holdings, EVP & GM Introspect at Steelpoint Technologies and EVP Curriculum Development at Advanced Career Technologies. He served as a Director at Church’s Chicken, Discovery Foods and Steelpoint Technologies. Prior to joining FFL, Mel held various senior executive positions at ADAC Laboratories from 1993 to 2000. His most recent role at ADAC was the Senior Vice President of Operations & CIO. Before joining ADAC, Mel held various engineering management positions at General Electric. Mel graduated with high distinction from Southall Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Tiffany Obenchain

Tiffany Obenchain, Principal

Tiffany Obenchain joined Insignia in 2014 and focuses primarily on deal origination, evaluation and execution. Prior to joining Insignia, she was a Vice President at Lake Capital where she focused on investments in service-based enterprises. During her five-year tenure at Lake, Tiffany played an active role in a number of investments including Hyper Marketing (fka SolutionSet), ORC International, PhysioHealth, Respond2 Communications, Vestcom, VFM Leonardo and Viamedia. She also served as a Director at four of Lake’s portfolio companies. After Lake and immediately prior to joining Insignia, Tiffany spent over a year with HarbourVest’s direct investment team where she focused on originating, evaluating and executing direct co-investments in growth equity, buyout and mezzanine transactions. She began her career in investment banking at JPMorgan in the Diversified Industrials group. Tiffany received a B.A. with Honors in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Pradyut Shah

Pradyut Shah, Principal

Pradyut Shah joined Insignia in 2011 as a founding member of the Firm and focuses primarily on deal origination, evaluation and execution as well as firm administration matters. Prior to Insignia, he was a Vice President at Behrman Capital, a successful private equity firm with over $2 billion under management. At Behrman, Pradyut was significantly involved with a number of investments from 2004 to 2011, including Athena Diagnostics, Atherotech, Brooks Equipment Company, Peacock Engineering Company, Pelican Products and WIL Research Laboratories. He also served as a Director at Atherotech and Brooks Equipment Company. Prior to Behrman, Pradyut spent three years at Credit Suisse First Boston’s Technology Group working on mergers and acquisitions in the technology sector. He attended the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S.E. in Computer Science from the School of Engineering and Applied Science and a B.S. in Economics with a major in Finance from the Wharton School of Business. Pradyut was born and raised in Kenya and is fluent in Swahili and Gujarati.

David Brightman, Vice President

David Brightman joined Insignia in 2012 as a founding member of the Firm and focuses primarily on deal origination, evaluation and execution. Prior to Insignia, he was an Associate at Crestview Partners, a successful private equity firm with $4 billion under management. At Crestview, David helped evaluate, execute and monitor investments across a broad range of sectors including consumer & retail, financial services, media and security. Prior to Crestview, he spent two years at Deutsche Bank’s Consumer and Business Services group, where he worked on mergers, acquisitions and capital raise transactions. David received a B.S. in Economics from Duke University, where he graduated magna cum laude, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Jeremy Thatcher

Jeremy Thatcher, Chief Financial Officer

Jeremy Thatcher joined Insignia in 2012 and oversees all aspects of finance, operations and compliance at Insignia. He brings 13 years of successful experience as a Chief Financial Officer in private equity to the Firm. Prior to Insignia, he was a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at Calera Capital (fka Fremont Partners), a successful San Francisco-based private equity firm with over $2.8 billion under management. At Calera, in addition to overseeing the firm’s finance, operations and compliance functions, Jeremy assisted the firm’s Managing Partners with the transition from an affiliate of a larger parent organization to a standalone entity. Prior to joining Calera in 2007, he was the Chief Financial Officer at FFL. He joined FFL in 2001 and, as FFL’s first financial officer, was instrumental in the development of many of the firm’s processes and build-out of the firm’s back office operations. From 1999 to 2001, Jeremy was employed at Meritus Research, Inc., a San Francisco-based start-up focused on hedge fund research and consulting. He began his career in San Francisco working for Deloitte & Touche LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in their audit and advisory services groups. Jeremy received a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Angelina Vontoure, Office Manager & Executive Assistant

Angelina Vontoure joined Insignia in 2012.  She oversees office-related matters and provides executive administrative support at Insignia. Prior to Insignia, Angelina was an Executive Assistant at J.P. Morgan, where she worked for over 10 years with the investment banking group. Her background includes administrative support, event planning and office management. Angelina graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Psychology.
